GREAT hosts and participates in numerous events throughout the year. Each event offers a wonderful opportunity to learn more about GREAT and show your support. Check back regularly to find out about up-coming events and visit us on Facebook to view photos of past events.
Meet-n-Greets
Volunteers from GREAT Rescue host Meet-n-Greets at various locations in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine areas throughout the year. Please be sure to stop by and visit them and their GREAT Goldens at the following locations:
Pet Supermarket (Mandarin): 11am to 1pm on the second Saturday of every month. The store is located at 10485 San Jose Blvd in Jacksonville, north of I-295, across from Target.
PetCo (St. Augustine): 11am to 1pm on the second Saturday of every month. The store is located on SR 312 in the Publix Shopping Center.
Riverside Art Market (RAM) – Periodically throughout the year.
Hurricane Wings Yappy Hour: Join us for Yappy Hour at Hurricane Grill & Wings at Julington Creek Marina on San Jose Blvd on the third Wednesday of the month from 6 to 9:00 pm. Hurricane Grill & Wings is owned by Kristi Kluba, GREAT Board Secretary and her husband, Rob, who are proud parents of two GREAT Goldens, Wesley and Cooper. Hurricane Grill is located at 12795 San Jose Blvd. just North of the bridge and adjacent to Julington Creek Marina in Jacksonville.

Past Events
Show Some HeART: On July 30th, 2011 fellow dog lovers enjoyed a night that included a silent auction of local artists’ dog-related works. A $10 cover charge to benefit GREAT included a free cocktail and some wonderful food.
GoldenFest: Our 8th Annual GoldenFest celebration was April 2nd, 2011 from 2-4pm at Dogwood Park in Jacksonville! Last year, over 150 Golden Retrievers and their families joined in on the fun and sun, reuniting with dear friends, and playing with lots of new, furry ones!
Northeast Florida Scottish Games & Festival: GREAT participated in the 2011 Northeast FL Scottish Games & Festival at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Celebrating the heritage of our beloved Goldens, this event has always been one of our most favorite events!
Tennis Ball Bonanza: Our 2011 Tennis Ball Bonanza was a huge success. A thank you to Fresh Prints who so generously provided the venue! Check out GREAT’s Facebook page at facebook.com/GREATrescue to view photos from the day. Check back regularly for details on our 2011 Tennis Ball Bonanza.
St. Augustine Christmas Parade: GREAT participated in the St. Augustine Christmas Parade for the 3rd year and had as much fun as ever! Everyone loved our beautiful and well-behaved goldens!
Gator Bowl Parade: The Winn-Dixie Hometown Gator Bowl Parade was held December 31st, 2011 in Downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The parade featured colorful floats, high school & college bands, giant helium balloons, entertaining specialty units, and many happily wagging GREAT Goldens and their owners!
