About Us
G.R.E.A.T. (Golden Retriever Emergency Assistance Team) Rescue of NE Florida was founded in 2000 by Judi and Reed Brown after decades of having Goldens in their family. They adopted their first Golden, Rhonda, in 1975 and soon realized how truly special Golden Retrievers are and how much joy they bring. Once the Browns’ professional careers were winding down, they investigated the possibility of establishing a rescue to try and help the dogs that had changed their lives.
After many phone calls, emails, and sheer determination, G.R.E.A.T. Rescue was born. Since its inception, many generous, caring, and talented friends have been a part of this journey. This Rescue is run by a dedicated team of volunteers whose sole mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home Golden Retrievers.

Based in the Jacksonville-St. Augustine area, G.R.E.A.T. Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and is affiliated with many wonderful partners in the area.
